Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute of Public Health in Zagreb has been taking care of the public health for numerous years. For us to continue successfully fulfilling our mission, the Institute’s reconstruction was necessary. In a confined space, and with daily work of other Institute’s buildings, it was necessary to reconstruct the deteriorated building B and enable communication with all facilities via a connecting hallway. Reconstruction of building B includes the following work: remediation of the load-bearing structure with seismic remediation by adding reinforced concrete walls and foundations, building of the elevator shaft and demolition of the existing staircase and construction of a steel evacuation staircase. Reconstruction of the connecting hallway includes thermal remediation of the existing hallway, new construction dilated from existing buildings, addition of two floors and of the evacuation staircase. The project is co-financed by EU funds.
