For the purposes of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2020, works were carried out on the reconstruction and conversion of the premises of the National and University Library in Zagreb.
The national and university library was built in the 1990s. Before the reconstruction, part of the space was used as the National and University Library, while in one part there was a land bank, and the remaining space was constructed in the Rohbau phase.
In just 240 days, it was necessary to bring the space of 5,000 sqm to its intended purpose and arrange it in accordance with the rest of the NSK. The congress centre was built as part of the central space for the activities of the Croatian presidency of the Council of the EU.
The works were carried out on several floors and included: removal of various floor coverings, tiling of walls and floors with granite, construction of glazed walls, electrical and mechanical installations, construction of suspended ceilings and construction of staircases and necessary railings.
Most of the work was carried out in the large hall: strengthening of the roof structure, execution of sprinkler installation, ventilation, electrical installation and heating and cooling installation. Acoustic protection was also performed in the hall, and there are sound-absorbing panels on the walls covered with decorative wooden coverings, and the ceiling is finished with hanging sound-absorbing lamellas.
